Gridlock energy drink review8/28/2023 That’s almost like 2 days worth of sugar. I mean, I’m still going to drink this no matter what, but still. I don’t know if I’m disgusted by this or intrigued. ![]() Also it gave a percentage for the sugar part. Wowee! 500% B12! That’s a lot of cyanocobalamin. 64g total sugars (with 64g added sugars). It’s in a nice box separate from the ingredients and nutrition facts. Oh yeah! There’s the warning saying it has a lot of caffeine and people sensitive to it should avoid this drink. I might have to trigger that clause if I do. Is there a testimonial on the back? No, but on the side it says “no certified synthetic colors.” No…Red 40? No kids off the walls? It also says to recycle it and there’s a double guarantee if this can is damaged or I hate it or whatever. Will it be more on the Dew side or more on the medicine side? Well, I guess there’s only one way to find out then. This doesn’t say it has any sort of flavor on it so I’m just going to assume it is generic energy drink flavor which is like a cross between Mountain Dew and cough medicine. So far, this is looking pretty good in the energy giving department. All of that stuff can be found in the big named stuff too. ![]() It says “Ginseng, L-Carnitine, B Vitamins, Taurine.” Well, that’s actually a decent combination of energy giving stuff for a cheaper energy drink. Like almost every energy drink in the entire universe, they have their energy giving things broken down along the top of the can. Another thing I like is the little peak they create at the top of the can just above the Summit logo. It is called “gridlock” so what? Did they take a screenshot of an Excel Spreadsheet and left the cursor between one of the cells and then threw it in a photo editing program for the cool sunburst effect? I think what they were going for was those hologram maps you see in the movies when someone like Admiral Ackbar talks to the rest of the fleet about a pending attack they are going to do. I don’t know what that’s all about really. It is mostly black with this sort of green and white sunburst in the middle. I think it is just a hair under the price of those Mountain Dew Kickstarts and I’m sure the effect of this will be much more noticeable too. These aren’t as cheap as Wired, but this is cheaper than your standard Red Bull or Monster. I also bought one for a friend and he said it was pretty decent. I know the Wired had a lot too, but it tasted just sort of average and I think having B Vitamins and the like that high mutes their effect somewhat. I took a quick look at the back and it seems like it isn’t pulling any punches with the energy stuff like B Vitamins. I think the name “Summit” is just one of many of Aldi’s subsidiaries. There’s also a sugar free version of this. What I do know is that this is their energy drink line. It reminds me of a place like Save A Lot except more….European? I don’t know. ![]() We have a new Aldi food store here and I checked it out a little while back. Honestly, I think that’s all just fanfare. This one is called Gridlock by a company called Summit. ![]() It’s been a little while since I’ve covered a new energy drink, well new to me anyway.
